One-Steam-Pot Baby Puree Recipe
Works for baby food stages 1 and 2 for your little one.
The Ingredients Line-Up
- One Small-Medium Zucchini
- 1/2 Cup of Peas (Fresh or Frozen)
- 1/4 Cup of Kale
- Sprig of Fresh Basil
The Recipe To-Do
- Pull out your pot of choice and full with about 2 inches of water.
- Drop in your steam basket.
- Put on the burner on high to get the water boiling.
- Chop up your zucchini and add to the steam basket covering the bottom.
- Next layer in your peas, then your kale and basil on top.
- Put on the lid and set a timer for 5 minutes. (I always burn the bottom of the pan and run out of water if I don't set myself a timer!)
- After 5 minutes, try forking your zucchini at the bottom and once they reach your desired tenderness, pull the pot off the burner.
- Once your ingredients cool a bit and you are able to touch the steam basket, pull it out and empty into a blender.
- Blend until you have reached the consistency that is best for your baby's food stage. This is a good chart as a reference.
Other Information About This Recipe
You could make a pretty design in the steam basket - but let's get real - I only did that for the gram. When making these all in one steam pot baskets for your baby's glorious and sophisticated puree, it is really about stacking the items that need to be steamed the longest on the bottom.
Dense fruits and veggies on the bottom base. Then each layer you add should go by order of how long or short it needs to be steamed.
Place it all in the basket and add two inches of water to the bottom of your pot. Top it with a lid and steam until they reach the consistency your little one needs!
