Four Ingredients - Vegan Pita Recipe With No Yeast
Let me repeat: Only. Four. Ingredients.
They are not perfect (and they are very green) but if you have a restricted diet and are craving that warm and delicious pita this is like a dream come true.
The Ingredient Line-Up
- 1 Cup of Chickpea Flour, plus more for dusting your work space
- 3/4 Cup Mashed Avocado
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Optional: 2 Tablespoons Chopped Fresh Parsley
The Recipe To-Do
- Combine the chickpea flour, baking powder and salt in a bowl and mix around with a fork until ingredients are well incorporated.
- Add in your chopped parsley if you wish!
- Add 1/4 cup mashed avocado at a time, mixing with a spoon until a dough starts to form. (This takes practice and if you need more avocado go for it!)
- Once you have a nice dough that has formed, kneed it with your hands and place on a floured workspace. Once it feels warmed up and workable, cut into two halves. Cut each of those halves into three equal parts. This will make six pita rounds in total.
- Roll each segment of dough into a ball and with either your hands or a rolling pin, flatten to about 6 inches in diameter.
- Heat up a non-stick skillet pan (you can experiment with or without oil - both work!).
- Transfer each rolled out dough piece one at a time. Let it heat up (you will hopefully see some bubbles, but if not its okay!) and let stay on the pan on each side for 1-2 minutes.
- Serve and enjoy!
